Republicans in Congress look small, egotistical, and self-possessed. They boast of how they’ve opposed President Obama on the bailout (or anything else). Proud of yourself? What good are you accomplishing? Are you taking care of your constituents with that ego?
It’s rather comical to watch the very people who ran our country into the ground, passed an equally large bailout bill when Bush was in office that has done absolutely nothing, and handed out bailout money to banks with absolutely no oversight. They are now noble and insist oh no, we can’t spend that kind of money. What? NOW they want the government to be fiscally conservative? After they have run up our national debt and had such a laissez-faire attitude to Wall Street that the DOW is now almost half what it was in October 2007?
I read all these blogs and mainstream media stories about President Obama’s failures. The man has the most herculean tasks of probably any president in history and has only been in office for 23 days! Give him a chance! He is trying to fix the mess that the Republicans and Bush left him.
There is a lot in the news about how the American people are fed up with the egos of Wall Street fat cats. I’m pretty fed up with the egos of Republicans in Congress and Republican leadership and bloggers who only want to tear down the Obama administration rather than try and work with them to build our country back up.
Republicans, an ego is a terrible thing to flaunt. Get over yourselves. As President Obama said, he won. The American people spoke. We wanted something new. Get with the program and be FOR America rather than just for yourselves.
UPDATE: For a superb addition to these thoughts, check out this post. Thanks to Catherine of the blog A Time for Change for writing it.
2/13/09 UPDATE: Arlen Specter (R-PA) said today that a “sizable number” of his Republican colleagues would have voted for the stimulus package if they were not afraid of the political consequences. This is not only egotistical…it’s COWARDLY.
