About Diane Beeler

me-big-smile1Welcome! My name is Diane Beeler and I live in Austin, Texas. I am passionate, intellectually curious, and concerned about human rights, civil rights, diverse ideologies, politics, history, and spirituality. I am particularly passionate about the rights of women and children all over the world.

My life’s journey has led me through being a single parent to two now-grown beautiful and intelligent daughters, living in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, traveling to 18 countries outside the U.S., being a pianist, and working in high-tech as a marketing manager. I now am a freelance writer, marketing consultant, and a new grandmother to Sebastian! I am using the gifts of my skills, knowledge, and passion to provoke and prod my brothers and sisters all over the world to wake up to the good that is present and the healing that is needed.

I believe in the precept of asking for what you want so I am putting this out into the universe. I want to work with socially conscious people and organizations who/that are helping to create positive change and healing in our world. If you know of an opportunity…or have one yourself…please contact me. You can read about my education and experience by clicking through below to my LinkedIn profile or professional website. Thank you!

I take the time to notice the birds and squirrels and focus on being present to the gift of each day. Spirituality is a big part of my life. I love the Buddhist precepts of loving-kindness, befriending who we are right now, and letting go of attachments in order to feel peaceful. I believe that with all of the fear and violence in the world, the peace that starts within each one of us is so needed and will create a movement that spreads all over the world.

I also believe a new day has dawned with the election of Barack Obama. What a glorious time to be alive to be led by this inspirational, inclusive, family-oriented, and incredibly intelligent leader. He makes me believe that I can be a better person and our country can be better as we come together in unity.

I was so inspired by Obama’s candidacy for president that I started this blog and originally blogged exclusively about politics and the election. After it was over, I began writing about human rights and other things I feel passionately about.

From the first time I saw the brave young men and women in Iran take to the streets, I have watched with conflicting emotions: So very moved and proud of their courage and, at the same time, sadness, knowing in my heart that Americans have lost this passion. Your comments brought this all together in a wonderfully articulate and relavant way. I want everyone I know who thinks and feels and still believes to read this and think about this as they watch the events in Iran unfold.
Thank you.
Jim

Hi,
FIrst of all, i think your posts are all very inspiring. I am part of an organization called media4humanity. We combat child trafficking in the United States, because believe it or not many people don’t know that it happens in NYC and all over the country. We use our “REAL” efforts to fight and eradicate child slavery. REAL stands for Rescue, Empowerment, Awareness, and Legislation. Through these different aspects, we want to fight off trafficking. Thank you for continuing to speak out against modern day slavery through your blog and creating more awareness!

Just found your sight and loved the posts I read….I can feel you writing straight out of my soul! I also started blogging because of the election last year, and as a retired nurse my new passion is now trying to make sense of the health care issue. Keep up the good work, and I’ll definitely be back…..
